Zebrano — also known as Zebrawood — is one of the most visually dramatic hardwoods available, and it makes for a crook handle that is impossible to overlook. Its pale golden-cream background is boldly streaked with dark brown to near-black grain lines in a pattern that genuinely resembles the markings of its namesake. No two pieces are alike, and the interlocked grain produces a striking ribbon figure when the timber catches the light at different angles.

Hard, dense and strong, Zebrano is a capable performer as well as a showstopper — it holds up well to handling and wear, and finishes to a smooth, lustrous surface under oil or lacquer that really brings the figure to life.
