Tulipwood (also known as American tulip poplar) is a striking hardwood with a soft cream to pale yellow base colour, often marked with subtle green, pink, or light purple streaks depending on the cut. This gentle variation gives it a distinctive, elegant appearance without being overpowering. It turns very well on the lathe, cutting cleanly with sharp tools and producing a smooth surface with minimal effort.
