Titebond III Ultimate Wood Glue is the first one-part, water-cleanup wood glue proven to be truly waterproof. Passing the demanding ANSI/HPVA Type I water-resistance specification, it's the ultimate choice for both interior and exterior applications — from laminating pen blanks and bowl staves to outdoor furniture and marine-adjacent projects. Safer than traditional waterproof glues, it's non-toxic, solvent-free, and cleans up with water.

Features & Benefits

  • Passes ANSI/HPVA Type I water-resistance — proven waterproof
  • Superior strength with strong initial tack
  • Longer open assembly time — more working time for complex glue-ups
  • Lower application temperature — usable down to 47°F (8°C)
  • Designed for interior and exterior applications
  • Non-toxic, solvent-free, cleans up with water
  • Unaffected by finishes
  • Excellent sandability
  • FDA approved for indirect food contact (cutting boards)

Application Guidelines

  • Application temperature: Above 47°F (8°C)
  • Open assembly time: 8–10 minutes at 70°F/50% RH
  • Total assembly time: 20–25 minutes at 70°F/50% RH
  • Clamping pressure: 100–150 psi softwoods / 125–175 psi medium woods / 175–250 psi hardwoods
  • Cleanup: Damp cloth while wet; scrape and sand when dry

Physical Properties

  • Type: Advanced proprietary polymer
  • Colour: Tan
  • Dried film: Light brown
  • Viscosity: 4,200 cps
  • pH: 2.5
  • Storage life: 24 months in tightly closed containers below 75°F (24°C)
  • Freeze/thaw stability: Stable (keep from freezing)

Limitations

Not for continuous submersion or use below the waterline. Not for structural or load-bearing applications. Due to low pH, may cause corrosion on metal surfaces — test before use where rusting is a concern. Store below 75°F to preserve shelf life.
