Swiss Pear (Pyrus communis)
Swiss Pear — also known as European Pear — is one of the most refined and beautiful of all the fruitwoods. Its warm salmon-pink to reddish-brown tones, exceptionally fine and even grain, and smooth, almost silky texture give it a quiet elegance that few timbers can match. It is a timber that rewards careful work — turning, carving, and finishing to an exceptionally smooth surface that takes oils and waxes beautifully.
Prized by instrument makers, turners, and fine furniture makers alike, Swiss Pear is a premium fruitwood of real character and distinction. Each piece is unique, and the warm, rich tones deepen attractively with age and a good finish.
