Spalted Beech is European Beech transformed by the early stages of fungal decay into something truly extraordinary. The spalting process creates dramatic black zone lines, ink-like streaks and subtle colour variations across the pale cream and tan background of the timber, producing patterns that are completely unique to every piece. No two boards are ever the same.

Despite the spalting, this timber retains good structural integrity and works well with sharp hand and machine tools. It takes a superb finish and is particularly popular with turners, furniture makers and anyone seeking a genuinely one-of-a-kind piece of British hardwood.
