Wood Characteristics

• Colour: Vivid violet-purple when freshly cut and exposed to light — deepening to a rich dark purple-brown with age; the purple colour can be revived with UV exposure
• Grain: Straight to slightly wavy or interlocked with a fine, even texture and a natural sheen
• Hardness: Very hard and dense — excellent durability and a substantial, premium feel in the hand
• Finish: Polishes to a superb natural lustre; a UV-resistant finish helps preserve the vivid purple colouring
• Workability: Turns well with sharp tools; the density rewards steady, careful cuts
