Padauk is a striking exotic hardwood instantly recognisable for its vivid orange-red colour — one of the most vibrant natural tones found in any timber. It mellows over time to a rich reddish-brown, but freshly worked it is truly eye-catching. Dense and stable with a straight to interlocked grain, it turns very well on the lathe and produces a naturally smooth, lustrous surface that needs little effort to bring to a superb finish.
