Padauk Bottle Stopper Blank

Padauk is one of the most vivid timbers available to the woodturner — its intense, fiery orange-red colour is unlike almost anything else in the wood world. Fresh off the lathe it is truly striking, and while it mellows to a rich reddish-brown over time, it retains a warmth and depth that makes for a bottle stopper of real character and presence.

Pre-cut to bottle stopper blank size and ready for the lathe — simply mount, turn, and finish.

Species: Padauk (Pterocarpus soyauxii)
Origin: Central and West Africa
Colour: Vivid orange-red, mellowing to rich reddish-brown with age
Grain: Straight to interlocked, often with a coarse texture
Finish: Turns and polishes to a smooth, vibrant result
Workability: Works well with both hand and machine tools
