Wood Characteristics

• Colour: Rich reddish-brown to deep red with darker streaking and occasional figuring — often compared to fine Rosewood
• Grain: Fine and interlocked with a smooth texture, sometimes with attractive wavy figure
• Hardness: Extremely hard and very dense — one of the heaviest African timbers, giving pens a premium feel
• Finish: Polishes to an outstanding natural lustre; the rich tones deepen beautifully under a finish
