Jatoba Pen Blank

A robust and richly coloured pen blank crafted from Jatoba (Hymenaea courbaril), a hard and durable South American hardwood also known as Brazilian Cherry. Jatoba is prized by pen turners for its warm salmon-red to reddish-brown tones, attractive grain, and excellent durability — producing pens with a rich, warm character.

Wood Characteristics

• Colour: Salmon-pink to orange-red when freshly cut, deepening to a rich reddish-brown with age and light exposure — warm and attractive at every stage
• Grain: Interlocked to wavy with a medium to coarse texture, often with an attractive ribbon or stripe figure
• Hardness: Very hard and dense — outstanding durability and a substantial, premium feel in the hand
• Finish: Polishes to a good natural lustre; the warm tones deepen beautifully under a finish
• Workability: Turns well with sharp tools; the hardness rewards steady, careful cuts
