Indian Walnut Pen Blank

A rich and versatile pen blank crafted from Indian Walnut (Aleurites moluccanus), also known as Candlenut or Kukui. Native to South and Southeast Asia, Indian Walnut is a warm-toned timber with an attractive grain that turns and finishes well — producing pens with a natural, earthy elegance.

Wood Characteristics

• Colour: Warm golden-brown to medium brown, often with subtle darker streaking and a natural warmth
• Grain: Straight to slightly interlocked with a moderately coarse, open texture
• Hardness: Moderately hard — good workability with a pleasant feel in the hand
• Finish: Responds well to sanding and polishing, producing a warm, attractive lustre
• Workability: Turns cleanly and easily — a forgiving and rewarding wood for pen turners of all levels
