European Beech is one of the most reliable and widely used hardwoods in craft and woodworking — consistent, close-grained, and a pleasure to work with hand tools. Its pale pinkish-cream tone and fine, even texture make it an excellent choice for a crook handle that will carve cleanly, sand to a smooth finish, and take stains, oils and waxes beautifully. Strong and hard-wearing, a Beech crook handle will stand up to years of daily use.

The blank provides enough material to create a traditional shepherd’s crook style handle or a more personalised shaped handle to suit your own design. It carves, rasps and sands with ease, making it a particularly good choice for those new to stick making.
