Chestnut Friction Polish – 500ml

Friction Polish is one of the most popular finishes in woodturning — and for good reason. This shellac-based polish builds to a deep, rich, high-gloss shine with remarkable speed, making it ideal for small to medium turned items both on and off the lathe. It's a great decorative finish that delivers professional results with minimal effort.

On the Lathe

• Can be applied to bare wood, but works best over a sanding sealer — any sealer in the Chestnut Products range is suitable.
• Apply with the lathe running — the polish dries almost instantly and builds to a deep shine very quickly.
• Use sparingly — applying too much can cause 'rings' to appear on the surface.
• Best suited to items up to approximately 8 inches in diameter; larger pieces can be more difficult to finish evenly.

Off the Lathe

Friction Polish can also be applied off the lathe with great success, used in the same way as French Polish — rubbed into the surface by hand. This method requires more effort but produces a beautiful, deep finish well worth the work.
