Chestnut Food Safe Finish – 500ml

Food Safe Finish is a clear, food-grade mineral oil specially formulated for wooden items that will come into contact with food — chopping boards, salad bowls, utensils, and similar pieces. A thin grade of oil is used to allow it to soak deep into bare timber, protecting it against water splashes and everyday use without tainting or affecting food in any way.

Finish & Application

• Dries to a naturally matt finish that enhances the wood without adding an artificial sheen.
• Ideal for wet sanding — when used with a very fine abrasive it produces an exceptionally smooth surface with its own gentle, natural glow.
• Apply with a clean cloth or brush directly onto bare wood.
• Up to three coats are recommended.
• If the oil sits on the surface and won't soak in, the timber has absorbed as much as it can — no further coats are needed.
• Any surplus oil can be removed with a clean cloth.

Maintenance

Depending on how the item is used, it may be necessary to top up the finish over time — particularly if the piece is washed regularly. Simply reapply as needed to keep the wood protected and looking its best.
