Chestnut End Seal – 1 Litre

End Seal is an emulsified paraffin wax used to seal the ends of freshly cut timber, slowing down the drying process and significantly reducing the risk of splitting and checking. An essential product for anyone working with green or freshly cut wood, or leaving blanks and work-in-progress unfinished for any period of time.

How It Works

Moisture escapes most rapidly from the end grain of timber. By sealing the ends, End Seal encourages moisture to exit via the larger face and side surfaces instead — a much slower process that allows the timber to dry more evenly and with far less risk of splitting.

Application

• Apply liberally — normally by brush, though it can be sprayed if needed.
• Apply primarily to the end grain (the smallest surface of the timber) where moisture loss is greatest.
• Also apply to any exposed end grain on work-in-progress that is being left unfinished.
