Wood Characteristics

• Colour: Pale pinkish-brown when freshly cut, deepening over time to a rich, warm golden-brown with a beautiful reddish blush — one of the most attractive natural ageing processes of any timber
• Grain: Fine and straight to slightly wavy with a smooth, even texture and a natural lustre
• Hardness: Moderately hard — good durability with a comfortable, well-balanced feel in the hand
• Finish: Sands and polishes to a silky smooth, warm surface — outstanding finishing qualities that reward careful work
• Workability: Turns superbly — one of the most satisfying and forgiving fruitwoods to work with at the lathe
