American Cherry (Prunus serotina)
American Cherry is one of the most beautiful and versatile cabinet timbers available — a wood with a warmth and refinement that improves with age. Freshly worked, it presents a pale pinkish-brown tone that deepens over time to a rich, lustrous reddish-brown, developing a patina that few other timbers can match. The grain is typically straight and fine, with a smooth, satiny texture that responds superbly to hand tools and finishes.
Cabinet grade Cherry is selected for its clean, consistent figure and minimal character marks — ideal for fine furniture, cabinetry, and joinery where a refined, even appearance is required. It works beautifully with both hand and machine tools, and takes stains, oils, and lacquers with excellent results.
