Chamfuta is a dense, characterful East African hardwood with a rich reddish-brown to deep mahogany tone and an interlocking grain that often yields a subtle ribbon figure on quartersawn faces. It turns well on the lathe, holds crisp detail, and finishes to a smooth, lustrous surface — making it a rewarding choice for bowl turning where depth of colour and natural character are prized.
