Bolivian Rosewood (Machaerium scleroxylon), also known as Santos Rosewood or Morado, is a stunning South American hardwood that delivers the rich, warm tones of a true rosewood without the CITES restrictions. Deep chocolate-brown to violet-purple with fine darker streaking, it is a wood that commands attention — and rewards the turner with a naturally lustrous, silky surface that needs little effort to bring to a superb finish.

Because the grain and colour vary so beautifully from piece to piece, we photograph each blank individually so you can choose the exact one you want. The piece you select is the piece you receive — no surprises, no substitutions.

• Finish: Turns to a naturally silky, lustrous surface; takes oils and waxes beautifully
• Workability: Turns well with sharp tools; the density rewards patience and produces a superb result
