Bocote Bowl Blank

Bocote is one of the most visually dramatic timbers available to the woodturner. Its golden-brown base is overlaid with bold, swirling dark brown to black streaks and figuring that vary dramatically from piece to piece — no two blanks are ever quite the same. It turns well with sharp tools and rewards careful finishing with a lustrous, eye-catching surface that needs little embellishment.

• Species: Bocote (Cordia spp.)
• Origin: Mexico and Central America
• Colour: Golden brown with bold dark brown to black streaking and figuring
• Grain: Straight to wavy, often with striking figure
