Bocote (Cordia elaeagnoides)

Bocote is one of the most visually distinctive timbers from Central America — a golden to olive-brown base overlaid with dramatic dark brown to black streaks and swirling figure that makes every piece genuinely unique. It is a timber that draws attention wherever it is used, and its natural lustre means it can look almost finished straight from a sharp plane.

Dense and hard, Bocote works and finishes exceptionally well, making it a favourite for furniture, cabinetry, turning, and small decorative pieces where the figure can really be appreciated.
