Bloodwood (Brosimum rubescens)
Bloodwood is a striking tropical hardwood from South America, instantly recognisable for its intense, deep crimson colour. It produces a dense, hard timber with a fine, even grain — occasionally showing subtle figure — that finishes to a glassy, lustrous surface. A favourite among knife makers for its visual impact and excellent workability under sharp tools.
