Ash is celebrated for its striking open grain, creamy pale colouring, and excellent strength — producing pens with a clean, athletic character that is both classic and contemporary.

Wood Characteristics

• Colour: Pale cream to white with a subtle warm tone, often with contrasting darker brown heartwood streaks — clean, light, and fresh in appearance
• Grain: Straight with a coarse, open texture and prominent growth rings — the bold, defined grain pattern is one of Ash's most distinctive and attractive features
• Hardness: Hard and tough — excellent durability and a solid, well-balanced feel in the hand
• Finish: Sands and polishes to a smooth, attractive surface; the open grain is beautifully highlighted under a finish, particularly with grain-filling techniques
