American Black Walnut Spindle Blank

American Black Walnut is a highly regarded North American hardwood, prized for its rich colour and attractive grain. The heartwood ranges from warm mid-brown to deep chocolate brown, sometimes with darker streaks or subtle purple tones.

It turns cleanly with sharp tools, holds fine detail and sands to a beautifully smooth surface. A clear oil, wax or polish will bring out the timber’s natural depth and character, making it an excellent choice for both practical and decorative turning.

Ideal for tool handles, finials, gavels, wands, knobs, candlesticks, pepper mills and other spindle-turned projects.
