Ambrosia Maple Pen Blank

A wonderfully characterful pen blank crafted from Ambrosia Maple (Acer saccharum), a naturally figured form of Hard Maple transformed by the Ambrosia beetle into something truly unique. The beetle's tunnelling introduces a fungus that stains the surrounding wood, creating beautiful grey-blue streaks and swirling patterns against the pale cream background — making every blank completely one of a kind.

Wood Characteristics

• Colour: Pale cream to white with distinctive grey, blue, and tan streaking and swirling patterns caused by natural fungal staining — no two blanks are alike
• Grain: Fine and straight with a smooth, even texture typical of Hard Maple
• Hardness: Hard and dense — excellent durability with a solid, quality feel in the hand
• Finish: Sands and polishes to a beautiful smooth surface; the natural figuring becomes even more striking under a clear finish
• Workability: Turns cleanly and easily — a very rewarding wood to work with
