African Blackwood is one of the world's most prized and distinctive timbers — a deep, rich wood ranging from dark purple-brown to near-black, with a fine, tight grain and a naturally lustrous surface. It is exceptionally dense and hard, producing a stunning finish straight off the tool with sharp chisels or gouges. Highly sought after by woodturners for its dramatic appearance and ability to hold fine detail, it makes outstanding decorative bowls and display pieces.
