Acacia Pen Blank

A striking and highly decorative pen blank crafted from Acacia (Acacia spp.), a diverse and widely distributed hardwood found across Africa, Australia, and Asia. Acacia is a firm favourite among pen turners for its dramatic colour contrasts, rich warm tones, and beautiful natural figuring — producing pens that are bold, eye-catching, and full of character.

Wood Characteristics

• Colour: Rich golden-yellow to warm reddish-brown heartwood, often with striking contrast against pale cream to white sapwood — the combination creates a naturally dramatic two-tone effect
• Grain: Straight to interlocked or wavy, often with attractive figuring including ripple, curl, and irregular patterns
• Hardness: Hard and dense — excellent durability and a solid, quality feel in the hand
• Finish: Polishes to a superb natural lustre; the rich tones and figuring are dramatically enhanced under a clear finish
