What to look for in laser ply:

• Face quality — smooth, knot-free surfaces give cleaner engraving and sharper cut edges
• Core consistency — void-free cores prevent blowouts and uneven cuts mid-sheet
• Thickness tolerance — tight tolerances matter when your machine is calibrated to a specific depth
• Species — birch ply is the most popular for laser work; alder and poplar are also widely used for lighter, finer results
